Can I copy text from books and journals?

Answer

You may copy a fair amount of copyright printed material for the purposes of non-commercial research or private copying.

The amount you copy must be fair and justifiable.  You must not reproduce the copy, sell it or share online.  You must acknowledge the source where reasonably practical.

This applies if you are using a photocopier, scanner or any other copying device.
