Paperpile has made a reference with s.l. in it, why is that?

Answer

Your reference might look something like this:

Bell, K. and Spencer, S. (2019) Stanley Spencer. (s.l.): Phaidon Press Limited.

s.l. mean no location, so Paperpile couldn't find a location for the publisher of the source you are referencing.

You can add this manually from within Paperpile:

  • Click on the Arrow to the right of the source
  • Select Edit
  • Add the location to the Address field
  • Select Save

This is quite common with older books on the UCA Library Catalogue, as often the publisher wasn't added to the catalogue record. Take a look inside the book, you can usually find the location of the publisher after the title page.
